working.....

Pansy_sized_2 Beautiful weather, having a great time - wish you were here!  lol!  I'm up to my eyebrows in projects and will be that way until June, I think!  :)  I'll have some goodies to share next week, but for now, I need to keep my momentum going!

swapping...

Wings_atc_1st_edition ...is alive and well at Fiskateers!  I'm sending off my first round of ATC cards for Valerie's "Things With Wings" swap at Fiskateers.  Can't wait to see the other gals' cards!  I had gotten out of swapping a while ago, but love ATC's and smallish swaps like this are so much fun!  Used some Christine Adolph Felicity, Holey Cardstock & Basic Grey on mine.  Also my Martha Stewart butterfly punch and some Creative Cafe felt trim.  Fun!

We had a quiet Memorial Day yesterday.  Tim wasn't feeling well, so we didn't make it to the parade.  Mom and Dad came up anyway, and we just visited with them.  I was feeling a little punky and definitely wiped out from the weekend, so it was fine by me to stay home and chill.  It got really warm, and last night was the first uncomfortable night for sleeping, so it won't be long before the A/C goes on, I think.

Busy week on tap, and I'd best get to it!

Happy, happy birthday to Cheryl!!

Cheryls_card Wishing a very special friend an extra special birrthday!  Happy birthday, Cheryl!

Happy Memorial Day!

Land_of_the_free_sized Good morning!  Memorial Day weekend is in full swing!

You'd never know that the economy is in bad shape and that gas is $4 a gallon from they way people shop, that's for sure!  Man!  We were so busy.  A lot of people are opening their summer camps for the first time this weekend, and we had our first "motor home sleepover" in the parking lot last night.  (Apparently Sam Walton decreed that motor homes were welcome to camp out overnight in any WM parking lot, so every summer we have a contingent of people who are just "passing through" who camp out in the back of the parking lot!  BBQ's and all!  The parking lot smelled heavenly last night!  lol!)

My page today has a mix of pp's - new Scenic Route "Liberty" (can't wait to get my hands on the rest of the collection!  Pat will be getting it early next week!  Layle has some wonderful layouts using it up on her blog too - check it out!)  The red floral ledger paper is from a company called GCD - love the Rocket's Red Glare collection and am going to have to hunt for a retailer that stocks it!  The red ledger paper behind the butterfly tag and covering the SR star is from Carolees.

Check out the Creative Imaginations blog - there's a project up today that I did for CHA-W that I had so much fun with!  I can't wait to share some of the projects that I have done for this year's show too!

Have a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend!!

fabulous Friday

The clouds have burnt off and it is absolutely gorgeous out there!  A beautiful day for Brigid's Memorial Day program - I just hope that her voice holds out.  She is still pretty congested, but insisted on going to school today because she really wants to participate in the program.  She's been practicing her songs backwards and forwards, and is so excited that Memere and Pepere are going to attend this year.

052308_polly_wheels_sized My page today is the Product Showcase upload at Peek: Rhonna Farrer's "French Twist" from Autumn Leaves. Love the "fancy edges" and bright colors and I mixed it up with some Magistical Memories chipboard flowers.  I wish the scan hadn't cut off the lower edge, though.  Aileen got a huge package of Polly Pocket cars for her birthday, and has been playing with them ever since.  I can't wait until Jonathan sees them - I know what his conclusion will be:  Hot Wheel cars for girls.  :)

Enjoy the long Memorial Day weekend!

"Woodlands" challenge at Peek!

Yes_dear_sized One of the hottest trends in scrapbooking right now is the use of natural motifs – birds (especially owls) trees,  butterflies, and bugs of all kinds, deer, wood-grained patterned paper & overlays, and more are showing up on a variety of different products from a variety of different manufacturers.

The challenge is to integrate a fun “woodlands” motif into your page, and post a link here.  I will be choosing one participant at random to receive some cool K and Co butterfly embellishments and some other goodies too!  This challenge will run from today 5/22 to 5/31 and I will announce the winner on June 1.

I used Sassafrass Lass "My Dearest" pp for my pun-ny page about my husband.  I pop-dotted the deer and the rose, and layered a bunch of cut out elements too.  The journaling is about a conversation with my Dad that we had before we got married when he shared his secret for staying happily married all these years:  "Yes, Dear."  - two little words that can save the peace when nothing else can!  Coming up on our 9th wedding anniversary, I think we've been doing a pretty good job using the "yes, dear" strategy ourselves!

Have a great Thursday!

back in the swing....

Dont_look_now_sized I've got a couple layouts to share this morning.  The first is a quickie I put together last night.  I found the photo that was taken on vacation last year, and had to scrap it quick before I lost it again.  I thought the Love, Elsie Forrest embossed cardstock would be the perfect background for the fancy die cup frame the photo came in!  It didn't need much more than a title and a little journaling tag - the photo definitely speaks for itself!  I love how the camera captured everyone's reaction to the ride.  Aileen has her face covered, because she doesn't want to get wet when they hit the water at the end of the drop, Daddy's holding on and yelling all the way down, Brigid's expression is exactly like the panda's at the front of the ride, and Uncle Peter looks like he is having a blast!  Notice, please, that Mama is not in the canoe.  lol!  The journaling under the tag relates the story of how my littlest one conned me into taking the ride by maintaining that it "isn't that fast, Mama" - and then when we were underway, she turned around with a big smile and said "Too late to get off now, Mama."  That was the first and LAST time I ever listen to my daredevil daughter's opinion on the scariness quotient for any ride!

052108_bee_love_sized The second page is a portrait page just "for pretty" for Pat's Product Showcase Feature this morning at Peek.  I used Christine Adolph's "Felicity" papers and embellishments, and Samantha Walker's "Holey Cardstock" - both from CI.

Making appointments for all our summer doctor's visits this morning.  Oh joy.  This year I'm not going to even mention them until the day before!  That way no one has time to stress out over whether they will have to get vaccinations (I think they both have to have chicken pox boosters) or not!  I've got to see my physicians, and make an appointment to see a podiatrist about my feet.  I've been self-treating my plantar fasciitis, but it is clear that I will have to get some sort of custom orthodics or something to "fix" this problem.  If there was a way that I could just stay *off* my feet for a few weeks, that would probably be a big help - but I need to work, and working for me right now involves standing at a cash register all weekend, so that certainly doesn't help the issue.  It takes me until Tuesday or Wednesday for my feet to recover, and then I have a day or two without much pain before I have to go and do it all over again.  Definitely time to deal with this.  =P

If you're in the need for some retail therapy (like me!) this week, Pat has a "Happy Hump Day" sale on at Peek until tomorrow morning at 6am.  Tons of great collections are 20% off or more, and you can find some super bargains in the Clearance section, where all 50% items are now 70% off and all 75% off items are now 90% off!  (90% - that's almost FREE!)

Have a happy Wednesday!

Monday again?

Last week was a total blur!  I got so much done, and had so much fun doing it that the days just flew.  The fruits of my labor are on their way to CA even as I am typing this, and life is SO good.  I am so grateful to work for such a fantastic company and with such an amazing team.  I am blessed, so very blessed!

Pansy_sized So.  Monday.  While waiting for my next big box o'stuff to arrive, I'm trying to catch up on everything else - housework and laundry included, since both were so neglected last week!  I just mailed off my trim for the trim swap that Tammy hosted  (so, so sorry to be the slowpoke for the swap!), and am working on some ATC's for another swap - the due date is mid-June, so I've got puh-lenty of time on that one!  lol!  I couldn't resist the theme:  "Things With Wings"!  And one of my favorite Fiskateers, Merlene, is participating, so how could I not join in the fun?  :)  I'm also working on some pages for the Product Showcase uploads at Peek later this week too.  It is a good thing that I thrive on being busy, because the next month or so is going to be packed with stuff to do!  Jonathan has finals this week, and then he'll be heading out to visit Rowan for the week, and then he'll be home.  Yay!  I absolutely can't wait for him to get home.  Our visits have had to be so brief because of work and travel constraints, that I am looking forward to have a nice long chat and catching up on all the ins and outs.  I'm sure he's looking forward to a break from academia for a bit too.  I think he had a pretty busy semester!

I am looking forward to Friday.  The elementary school is doing their annual Memorial Day program, and the girls have been practicing Yankee Doodle and the rest of their songs constantly for the past week.  I was joking with Bee not to sing too much, or she'll lose her voice before the concert!  We're both having a tough time right now because of the pollen.  If I park outside, the van is positively yellow when I go back outside.  We'll be getting some rain as the week goes on, so I am hoping that that will alleviate it a bit, and bring the counts back down to a reasonable level, and we both won't have froggy voices and runny noses any more!

Thanks for the book suggestions - my list is growing!  :)

just back from CKC Manchester....

Ckc_weekend That was so much fun!  Sharon and I went just for the early part of the day - didn't sign up for any classes, just to walk around and soak up the scrappiness.  :)  Met an online friend  for the first time, which was wonderful.  We've attempted to meet up several times, but never connected, so it was great to meet Lisa at last!  :) I ran into a Fiska-friend and Nifty 50 gal, Laura, who I haven't seen since San Antonio, so that was really nice.  Wish we'd had more time to chat...

I'm so glad that we went.  :)

a box of books....

051408_a_box_of_books_sized My Product Showcase layout at Peek today features Basic Grey's "Recess" collection.  It is definitely one of my favorites, and I love that "grunge-y ledger" look to the papers.  The journaling is about Jon's all-purpose gift requests every year.  The titles have changed, but the delight in receiving a box of books hasn't changed!  (It is my favorite type of gift too!)

I'm starting to compile my "summer reading" list for the summer months.  I picked up The Friday Night Knitting Club the other day, and that is in the "summer book" pile, and Garden Spells was another recent release that was recommended to me.  If you've read a great book recently that you could recommend for my summer reading list, I'd love for you to leave me a comment!
